Fengchi GB20 location and gentle pressure
Fengchi is located below the back of the skull, in the hollows on both sides of the neck. It is often used as a gentle self-care reference for neck tightness, back-of-head pain, or migraine with neck tension.
Stop if headache, dizziness, nausea, or numbness worsens.
Standard location
Below the occipital bone, between the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles, in the hollow where the neck meets the skull.
Easy way to find it
- Place your fingers at the base of the skull behind the ears.
- Move inward toward the two soft hollows on both sides of the neck.
- The point should feel like a natural depression, not a spot that requires hard pressure.
How to press
- Use thumbs or index fingers to press gently inward and slightly upward.
- Hold or circle lightly for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Keep the pressure comfortable and stop if pain increases.

- Do not press with fingernails.
- Do not force strong pain.
